JEFF MATHEWS

Sharing the same mechanical engineering interests as his dad, Milton, Jeff Mathews was working in that field when a family friend and custom jeweler noticed Jeff’s meticulous attention to detail and offered to train him as a jeweler’s apprentice. In no time, it was clear to Jeff that this was not going to be a job but a passion.

Over the years of designing and fabricating jewelry, he always wanted a tool to help consistently produce high-quality pieces. Milton and Jeff partnered up to design and patent the Allset stone-setting system, later adding the Allset sander/planer, mill, GRS® Slide & Lock, as well as other tools to help jewelers make a living.

A Jewelers of America Certified Master Bench Jeweler, Jeff has won a number of jewelry design awards including the Spectrum Award. He has also had the privilege of speaking twice at the Santa Fe Symposium, receiving an Industry Leader award both times. It has been his pleasure to judge jewelry design contests, and he is honored to do so again for the Saul Bell Design Award competition. After 38 years in the jewelry industry, Jeff has no plans to stop and, in fact, feels he is just getting started.
